Back from my Thanksgiving Stupor

Hi gang, I am back.  Have you ever had cucumber on your turkey sandwiches.  It is mmmmgood.  Just a little aside.  I woke early to take my husband to work at the mall.  Traffic was treacherous - it was black and rainy.  Now the sky is blue and world is great and I am home making Christmas cards.   Rex Putnam High School is hosting a Craft Bazaar to supplement the Senoir Classes bank account.  Yes, and I will be selling my cards.  It is something I do every year to fund my Christmas gift buying. Normally I would work as a Close To My Heart Consultant and show off my classes or offer parties but at Christmas I sell cards.  So come out and support the kids.  They will have drawings too so it should be a fun time had by all.  It is being held at GracePointe Church, 10750 S.E. 42nd, Milwaukie, Oregon, 97267 December 5, 2009, Saturday, 10am to 4pm.

Volturi cake

I was trying to decide what kind of cake to make my Teens this weekend for the opening of New Moon.  I decided to get a Red Velvet cake mix and layer it with raspberry filling.  Make the whitest icing I can make.  Using a sparkle granulated sugar and purest white shortening,  Then just drizzle Raspberry down the side of the cake like blood.  Sorry, If I sound ghoulish.  I was a Respiratory Therapist for 22 years -- it doesn't even phase me.  It is all fun make-believe.  I would make the a mini Bella cake but I am not that talented and the idea of working in fondant scares me more then seeing a pack of werewolves.
Have a spooky weekend and congrats to the New Moon cast.  Enjoy your fame,  it can be quite a roller coaster ride with an abrupt stop at the end.

Potato Soup

This is my son's favorite soup. Also for the fast paced mom.  My Daughter calls me the Queen of Soups and this one is great for a cold rainy day.
5 medium potatoes cubed
Place this in the microwave in safe dish and salty water to cover, potatoes wave it for 10 min
Good ground sausage - break up and brown in you dutch oven or other deep pan
Onion chopped to cubes  - add to browning sausage
1/2 can of corn  - add to growing mixture in the deep pan
Rosemary, salt, and pepper to taste
pour in 2 cans of milk or 16 ounces of cream
simmer slowly
when potatoes are done add potatoes and water to the milk-sausage mixture.
If you like you soups thicker I add 3/4 cup instant potatoes.  I keep this on hand just for thickening my cream soup.
When the potatoes are tender your done , bon appetite.   Easy, peazy, lemon, squeezy <3<3<3

New Blog site for my Stamping and Scrapbook sisters.

Hello Friends, I tried another blog site and just could not get it to work. Here I am trying again. So..... Pardon my dust while I learn a new blog software. Hope I get the hang of it. For those of you who missed the last recipe.
Chicken and Spanish Rice:
Get out your crock pot and warm it up. Rub bottom and sides with olive oil. Or salad oil you have on hand.
Place in 4 frozen skinless chicken breast
pour 1 cup uncooked rice
measure 1 cup of good chunky salsa and add water to that to equal a  1 cup and 1/2 (chick stock works good too) cook on low until chicken is tender and rice is moist and tender. Garnish with 1 cup grated cheese and sour cream at the side. Takes about 2 hours depending on how hot your crock pot is. I keep a cup of water by it in case it starts to look too dry. This is a set it and forget it recipe and my family loves this meal.
Hope I can get this blog site right this time. Have fun.
